The Native Americans of the South
Bringing It All Together
Now that you have viewed all three of the artifacts in this digital archive you may be wondering why they were chosen to be placed with each other. The arrowhead, cultivating hoe, and grooved axe head were essential for the way of life for the Southern Native Americans. The arrowhead and the cultivating hoe would bring in food for the families in their tribe. Whether it being meat from animals they had speared with their arrowhead or vast amounts of crops they were able to grow due to the cultivating hoe. The grooved axe however brought them with shelter. This tool allowed them to be able to cut down trees and split them the way they needed to build their shelter. It also allowed them to chop up wood for their fires giving them warmth through the winter. With out any of these tools the Native Americans would have been unable to survive in the rough southern area. These tools are from the true Southerners of the United States which we should learn from because without them many of their tools and ideas which we still use some form of today would not be present in our everyday life.
